Interface Of Computing And Biology Essay - 1897 Words

Interface of Computing and Biology in today s world Prachi Pundhir , Gunjan Kandhari and B.D.K Patro R.B.S. Engineering Technical Campus, Agra, U.P., 283105, India Abstract Biological computers are special types of microcomputers that are specifically designed to be used for medical applications. There are many advantages of biological computers in comparison to other technologies like a doctor can focus on or find and treat only damaged or diseased cells. Selective cell treatment is made possible. In this computers can also perform simple mathematical calculations which enables the researchers to build a system of biosensors that has the ability to detect or target specific types of cells that could be found in the patient s body .This could also be used to carry out or perform target-specific medicinal operations that could deliver medical procedures or remedies according to the doctor s instructions. In this paper a review of the current research in biological computing is presented. Basic Concepts are introduced and these important basic elements are explored to discuss the possibilities of a new computing paradigm. Keywords: - Biosensors, Biological Computers, Microcomputers. Introduction The biological computer is an implantable device that is mainly used for tasks like monitoring the body s activities or inducing therapeutic effects, all at the molecular or cellular level. The biological computer is made up of RNA (Ribonucleic Acid - an important part inShow MoreRelatedHealthcare Is Evolving And Applying New Innovations Into Its Field1417 Words   |  6 Pagestechnology because it is a disciplinary field that involves both science/ health and technology (Hoyt, 2010). Bioinformatics is a field that combines, â€Å"computer science with biological and biomedical sciences such as chemistry, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, genomics, and physiology† (Moore, 2007). It began with the development of DNA and protein sequencing, along with the increasing expansion of digital computers and biological databases (Hagen, 2000).
